Street Theatre workshops and bursury opportunity

A Glasgow based street theatre company, SURGE are offering the exciting opportunity to take part in street theatre workshops and performances in Arran in August at Brodick Castle.

SURGE runs projects to develop street arts, physical theatre and circus in Scotland. They work with artists, performance companies and educators at all levels of experience, and also run SURGE Festival, an annual event, which takes place each July, and brings new Scottish work and cutting edge international performances to the streets, theatres and unusual spaces of Glasgow.

The project in Arran would involve rehearsing with SURGE at their street theatre workshops, where you will be given the chance to learn the skills to become a street performer and to try out SURGE’s street theatre acts. No experience of street theatre is necessary – just a willingness to try out new things!

To note interest or ask questions please contact Karen Veitch at karen@surge.scot or 0141 248 6910 – notes of interest from groups or individuals welcome!

This is a great opportunity for age13 – adults! Click here for more information and details on how to sign up. The deadline for joining is 10th July.

Together with Arran Theatre and Arts Trust, Arran Youth Foundations and National Trust Scotland, SURGE are also offering an opportunity for 2 theatre makers to take part in a bursary programme, which will give you the skills to develop your own street theatre projects.

You will shadow and be mentored by Melanie Jordan, SURGE’s experienced Physical Theatre Practitioner and Co-ordinator, and gain practical experience during SURGE’s project at Brodick Castle.

If you would like to learn how to direct your own street theatre show, see here for more details
