LAMLASH BURNS SUPPERS JANUARY 2023
TWA WITHIN A PERIOD OF 7 DAYS, HOSTED BY LAMLASH GOLF CLUB
A double bill for Keith Wallbank of Whiting Bay
Lamlash Golf Club biennial mixed supper (ladies and Gents) Saturday 14TH January – first for 4 years due to the pandemic restrictions.
Attracted participation of 50 persons chaired by Robbie Glen, Haggis piped by Jo Earle and addressed by Sheila Gilmore, Immortal memory presented by Keith Wallbank, Sheila also did a recitation ‘Last May a Braw Wooer’ Music by Douglas Hamilton and singer John Cruickshank, toast to the lassies by Alistair Crawford and reply by Fiona Henderson. Food ably prepared by the resident chef Duncan Heenan and team.
‘LAMLASH BURNS CLUB’ formed in 1921, their supper was held on Saturday 21st first time for a period of 3-years due to the pandemic.
Attracted 50 Gents, chaired by Douglas Auld. Haggis piped in by Quinton Black and addressed by Allan Nicol, music and songs conducted by James O’Neil ex High School music teacher and Cammy Hill member of Whiting Bay Golf club. Immortal memory by Keith Wallbank.
Recitation- ‘Death of Dr Hornbrook’ by Jock Kelso. Tam o’Shanter and Toast to the lassies by Bob Buntin. Toast to the Burns club by Graham Kerr, who covered all of the various venues that the club had held their suppers in over the years.Reply on behalf of the club by Allan Nicol. Superb food prepared by resident chef Duncan Heenan and his team.
At the end of the proceedings, Club President Douglas Auld presented to Allan Nichol on behalf of his father, Archie a plaque to recognise over 40 years of service and his election as honorary president of the Lamlash Burns club.
