COAST begins its series of public meetings about the proposed salmon farm expansion

COAST has begun to hold public meeting around the island to discuss the proposed expansion of the Lamlash Bay fish farm. The photo was taken at the well-attended Kildonan Hall meeting on the 19th October.

The audience discussed the environmental damage caused by this form of open cage aquaculture, where toxic chemicals and excrement pollute the locality and affect the livelihoods of local creelers and tourism businesses, whilst the profits go abroad. There will be much more on this topic in this and future editions of the Voice.
