Update on the Glen Rosa tree planting
The NTS Rangers shared some great news recently, as the tree planting season was coming to an end. Over the winter, and since the wildfire last spring, groups of volunteers, including children from the Arran primary schools, have been planting new saplings. Below are some of the photos showing the incredible work that has taken place and the great satisfaction of those who contributed their time and energy. It is helping so much in the Glen’s recovery after the wildfire. All photo credits: Arran Ranger Service.
A Facebook message from the NTS Rangers at the start of May:
Last week we had our last tree planting day for the season, another 1,550 trees planted!
Thanks to all who came tree planting with us this winter.
Together, since the fire, we have planted 30,252 trees and built 6 new seed islands. Epic!
In sleet, rain, sunshine and showers we’ve had:
* All the Primary Schools of Arran plant 600 trees
* Local volunteers plant 4,852 trees
* Auchrannie Resort and Arran Active staff released from their day job to plant trees
* Morgan and the team from Arran Footpaths & Forestry planting 18,800 trees in all those more difficult to reach spots!
Thank you to everyone who donated trees towards our recovery after the fire. We couldn’t have achieved this with out you.
There’s still time to donate trees as we’ll be planting next winter and propagating Arran Whitebeams. To donate follow the link here.
