Official Visit

On 18th June Coastwatch St Monans station were visited by two officers from Aberdeen Coastguards Operations Room. The officers went to St Monans to inspect the Coastwatch station which passed with flying colours. St Monans Coastwatch station is part of the HM Coastguard network and covers an area of 12 miles of coastline. The station is manned everyday with 8 volunteers on 24 hour call.
St Monans Sea Queen Day
St Monans Sea Queen Gala Day marked its 60th Anniversary on Saturday June 15th with former sea queens gathering to help mark the occasion. The day’s events were opened by Mr Chris Chittell who plays Eric Pollard in Emmerdale and is patron of St Monans Coastwatch station. The event saw the crowning of the Sea Queen, 15 year old Mya Horsburgh. The village was packed with locals and visitors who enjoyed pipe bands, stalls, demonstrations, dancing, children’s fancy dress and much more. Coastwatch St Monans team provided safety for the day and also had a stall which raised £90.
Call Out
Coastwatch St Monans team were paged by Aberdeen Coastguard on June 12th after reports were received about a large object in the sea between St Monans and Pittenweem. The team raced to the scene and discovered a 25 ft long tree trunk. As the object was a hazard to shipping it was removed.
