News from the Arran Community Land Initiative

Arran community land Initiative held a harvest open day on Saturday the 28th of September. Around 60 adults and children came out on a beautiful day to take part in a number of activities.

Jo had children enthralled with pebble painting, Mandy had Pizza dough for children to make their own Pizzas, Keith and Nicola led the campfire cooking and Pizza oven, Jill arranged the treasure hunt and Darren led the bush craft activities.

It was a chance to sample some peaceful time in the open, see friends, take home some produce, chat and have fun. Some people had not been to the community land before and took the opportunity to wander up the hill, look at the allotments and community garden. There was produce from the community garden available and we received donations for a variety of vegetables. We are getting to the end of the growing season now, if anyone wishes to take produce they can leave a donation in the hub.

Over the rest of the Autumn and Winter our attention will turn more towards conservation activities across the land leading up to the Forest track. We have some boardwalk steps to complete at the Glenashdale entrance, Gorse to cut through for a Horse path, trees to plant and so on. Please take a regular look at our Facebook page and website for volunteer days and opportunities to get some exercise on the community land.
