Notice from the Local Island Plan working groups:
The Arran Local Island Plan is a 10-year plan developed by North Ayrshire Council working with the community on Arran. The plan has three distinct themes: Economy, Community and Environment. Groups have been formed to take forward the Economy and Environment themes and the first meeting of the Community Working Group took place on Wednesday 14th June.
More meetings will follow, so if you are involved in community activity on Arran and would like the opportunity to be involved in establishing the community priorities and the actions we need to take to achieve these, then please contact Sheridan Waldon on 01770 600611 or email her at sheridan.waldon@arrancvs.org.uk
The Environment Working Group will discuss the environment strand of the Arran Local Island Plan together with the National Islands Plan. This local consultation will help to influence both the island plans for Arran, and will be instrumental in giving our island’s environmental organisations and individuals a voice in the delivery of public policy that affects Arran. This group is open to organisations and individuals with an interest in Arran as a model of an inclusive and green island economy, and will influence the areas of the Local and National plans that refer to how we steer towards the transition of Arran to net zero by 2030.
The Environment working group is being facilitated by Arran Pioneer Project Director Simon Ross-Gill while it is getting established. The next meeting will take place on Thursday July 6th at 4pm at Heather Lodge, in Brodick. If you are interested in participating please email simon@pioneerproject.scot .
We would love to see a broad representation from the diverse range of organisations on the island that are tackling the issues around environment.
