Walks in September with Arran Geopark

High Corrie

An entirely new perspective on a beautiful part of Arran, above the villages and beneath the mountains, amidst woods, moor and burial sites.

Walk length: 6.75km / 4 miles, with 220m ascent
Approx. duration: 4 hours
Terrain: steep, rough, narrow deer tracks, sometimes overgrown; four small stream crossings; one stile to cross; short section of pathless tussocky boggy ground; muddy and grassy descent; return to start point along tarmacked road through Corrie            Meeting place: Corrie & Sannox Village Hall, at 10am.

Eas Mòr and Loch Garbad

A unique location in Arran’s south end, taking in a waterfall, a loch, a woodland, and plenty Gaelic culture and craic!

Walk length: 5km / 3 miles
Approx. duration: 3 hours
Terrain: good, occasionally steep footpaths, followed by a rough, sometimes boggy path
Meeting place: Eas Mòr car park opposite the Kildonan road, east of Lagg, at 10am

Imachar

A walk taking in Imachar’s many hidden sites of interest – caves, spectacular rocks, a burial ground, and of course beagan Gaelic history!

Walk length: 3.75 km / 2.5 miles
Approx. duration: 3.5 hours
Terrain: a mixture of pebbly shore, uneven rocky slabs (which can be very slippery), and uneven, vegetated path
Meeting place: Layby south of Imachar Point, at the base of steep section of road leading up to Imachar. There is limited off-road parking available here.

For all the walks – Waterproofs are essential; please wear walking boots; and don’t forget food/drinks – we’ll be stopping for lunch!
