
Concerts in September
Music Arran is holding two concerts in September. See below for more details:
The first, on Saturday 9th September, as part of the McLellan Arts Festival and featuring the Scottish Ensemble. is in Brodick Hall, starting 7.30pm
The String Quartet: A Blueprint. Four exceptional musicians; an intimate performance; a deep connection.
The performance includes:
– Ludwig van Beethoven String Quartet Op. 18 No. 6
– Caroline Shaw Blueprint
– Jessie Montgomery Voodoo Dolls
– Antonín Dvořák String Quartet No. 12 “American”
Scottish Ensemble is a pioneering group of outstanding musicians. The second concert, Arran Connections, is on Saturday 16th September, Arran High School Theatre in Lamlash, 7.30pm
Local musicians will perform for us in a concert called ‘Arran Connections’. Featuring works by Diana Hamilton, musical director of the Arran Singers, and well known to Arran’s residents – including her cello sonata performed by cellist Sarah Harrington. Also works by Purcell, Mendelssohn and Frank Bridge, performed by Diana Hamilton, Olivia Holmes, Carol Harwood and Alice Maxwell.
