CHAKAI 茶会 | An introduction to the Japanese Tea Ceremony


Discover the essence of the traditional Japanese tea ceremony, with Misaki Nishimoto.

The next workshops are taking place on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th September at 1pm, at Heather Lodge, Brodick.

Hosted by an officiated tea practitioner, these workshops will introduce you to traditional Japanese tea gatherings. Learn about the philosophy of Japanese tea preparation and experience how tea gatherings are traditionally hosted.
There will be a structured tea room setup with tatami matting where Misaki will serve you traditional sweets and a bowl of Matcha tea. Join her on either Friday or Saturday afternoon and try ceremonial grade matcha in the peaceful garden room at Heather Lodge.

The sweets are Japanese Manju and Kohakuto, handmade by Misaki. The pottery is also made by Misaki, and members of her family. Some items such as the tatami mat, matcha tea and kettle (Kama) are imported from Japan.
