Arran Heritage Museum’s 50th Year
The Arran Heritage Museum is marking it’s 50th year in 2026. And to celebrate they are holding an exhibition, along with the special events that they run throughout the year. Read on for more information, and follow the Facebook page to keep up to date with ways you can take part. To read more about the history of the museum and all the work and dedication it took to establish it back in the 1970s, see this issue’s Notes from The Arran Naturalist.
2026 is a very special year for the museum. It marks 50 years since the formation of the Isle of Arran Museum Trust.
In celebration of this milestone we are running a year round celebration of the museum’s history in the Garden Room.
An exhibition celebrating 50 years of the museum. This exhibition will evolve throughout the year and be supported by film and music. Look back over the past 50 years and enjoy seeing the growth of the museum and the people who made it happen. Not forgetting the community and visitors who support us.

The Isle of Arran Heritage Museum, founded in 1976 (open to the public in 1979) is on the main road, at Rosaburn, just north of Brodick, on the beautiful island of Arran, Scotland. Originally the site of a small school, the present group of buildings were a croft and smiddy, and include a farmhouse, cottage, bothy, milk house, laundry, stable, coach house and harness room. The exhibits reflect the social history, archaeology and geology of the island. The museum is run by 34 volunteers, who generously give their time to make your visit as enjoyable and interesting as possible.
