Arran Open Studios in August

Arran Open Studios means just what it says. The island’s artists have all agreed to throw their studios and workshops open to the public throughout the weekend of Friday 10th – Monday 13th August, and they have just published a comprehensive, beautifully designed brochure to give details of every venue. Well supported by many Arran businesses, the brochure has been produced by Margo Wheeler of Corrie, and its title page, based on a lino-cut by event organiser Josephine Broekhuizen, is the flagship image for the whole enterprise.

Josephine points out that the Open Studios weekend is a great opportunity to talk to artists and discuss what it is that inspires them. The brochure acts as ‘a map in the hand’ as co-organiser Sarah Cook puts it, and whether you want to do the grand tour of Arran’s studios or just pop into one or two, it will be very useful.

Brochures are available across the island in coffee shops, hotels and retail outlets, as well as on the ferry. Pick them up – they are free of charge.
