A message from the Whiting Bay Memories group…
Whiting Bay Memories group have been very busy planning and organising a weekend of celebrations.
The event takes place in the village hall and around the village on Saturday & Sunday May 11th & 12th. Planning has included a small group of volunteers spending many hours making fabric bunting to help decorate the village. At the village hall between 11am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday there is a free Exhibition.
The Memories group are hosting a two day exhibition of ‘Memories throughout the decades’, which will include old picture shows, a short film clip, and a decade of Fun Week’s digital pictures. Special exhibitions to include “The Arran Gallery at St Columba’s”, a show of stunning “Model Boats”, some surprise old favourites from the 70-80’s, and “Arts and Crafts” with children’s activities. Music and interactive crafting will make this a very special weekend. Saturday also offers visitors a chance to get to know more about some of our village organisations and businesses. Village business’s will be offering something special for the weekend, be sure to visit them all and look out for music and special menus
Activities around the village
Saturday morning from 10.30am – Bowling Fun a chance to try something new at the Bowling Green. In the afternoon from 1.30 at the Putting Green, have some fun putting and enjoy music from Arran Brass while you play. At 6.30pm – there is a Family Ceilidh B.Y.O.B. with Arranach Ceilidh Dance Band.
Sunday at the hall – the exhibition will include artists and makers offering interactive crafting, and there will be special guests Vivace and Elizabeth Wilkinson. Sunday afternoon from 2.30pm Children’s Fun in the park.
There will be Mogabout excursions to Giants Graves and Glenashdale on both days, to give everyone a chance to enjoy the wonderful views. Tickets available from www.arranevents.com
To capture the Celebration for all times the memories group have invited Positive pictures to Film and create a DVD filming will be taking place all around the village from Friday, so everyone is invited to wear a smile!!!
