Eco Savvy online film club and other remote eco activities

In the wake of the Corona lockdown, Eco Savvy have launched a new online film club, which will take place each week on Tuesday evenings. Here they are to tell us a bit more about it, and further on below is an update on some of the other eco activities that the team are organising. Also below, in case you’ve not heard, is important news about the ongoing Food Share in it’s new locations in the Co-ops…

Savvy Film Club – online & FREE!

Every Tuesday night we will be screening a different film with an environmental message or theme. This will be done online so that people can watch from the comfort of their own couch!

The last two weeks we have watched the fantastic “Treading Lightly” which followed a couple’s year long quest to reduce their carbon footprints, and “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind” which is based on a bestselling book and true story about a 13-year-old William Kamkwamba as he is inspired by a science book to build a wind turbine to save his Malawian village from famine.

After each film there will be an opportunity to have a discussion within the comments on the Facebook event page. If you would like to watch these films with us could you please let us know by:
• emailing charlotte.ecosavvy@gmail.com
• click “Going” or “Reserve a spot” on the Facebook event

We will then be in touch on the TUESDAY with instructions of how to watch the film for free – all you need is a Netflix account. If you have Netflix you’re all set, but if not just email us and we’ll send some more info.

An update on the Sustainable Island Life project and some of the activities you can still take part in…

…And the latest on the Food Share locations… It is still taking place… please go and collect food and save it from the bin!
