Sing with the McLellan Arts Festival Chorus

A message from the organisers:

Come and Sing!

Arran Theatre and Arts Trust are excited to announce the return of the McLellan Arts Festival for this summer! It will run from Friday 5th to Friday 12th September 2025.

For many years we have been lucky on Arran to have a chance to sing beautiful chorale music – not only with the Arran Singers but also, annually at the McLellan Arts Festival and this year is no exception.

We are looking for sopranos, altos, tenors and basses to form the Arran Festival Chorus for Puccini’s wonderful Messa di Gloria to be performed on Sunday 7th September as part of the 2025 festival.

Those who took part last year all agree that singing Vivaldi’s Gloria was a fantastic experience and the Puccini is likely to be just as magical as the conductor is, once more, Andrew Nunn from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland – magical because he performed magic in getting us to an unexpectedly high standard.

No need to worry if you have no experience of this kind of singing. There are several useful aids online to help with learning your part to which we can direct you.

Then on Saturday 6th September we will work all day with Andrew leading to a performance on the following Sunday afternoon. It is really amazing how this intensive session takes us to a really credible performance level even if you have done little or no work beforehand.

So, please don’t be shy. The Puccini’s Messa di Gloria needs you!

This year we have been able to borrow scores from Bearsden Choir which has kindly lent them free of charge – all we ask is that you don’t use permanent marking on them.

If you are interested please phone or text Margaret Wright on 07880835532 or email mwright06@btinternet.com giving her your name contact details and what you sing and arrange a score.
