The Scottish Government has published its draft circular economy strategy and it is open for consultation until 13th January 2026.
This new strategy has the potential to make the way we use and consume resources fairer and more sustainable. If you would like to live in a society that reduces the amount of needless stuff it uses, creates less rubbish, and ends exploitation of natural resources, please tell the Scottish Government.

Friends of the Earth Scotland, are asking the Scottish Government to include a commitment to a society which uses less resources, that holds businesses to account to the harms in their supply chains and which has a plan for tackling plastic pollution in Scotland.
Last year, thousands of people across Scotland called on the Scottish Government to make its new Circular Economy law better. Together we successfully fought to make sure the impact of resource use on people in Scotland’s supply chains was considered for the first time. Now we can make the next stage in that process, the circular economy strategy, stronger still.
By taking part in this consultation, you can show the Government that people across Scotland want less packaging and litter, products that don’t break and supply chains that protect people and nature.
Your voice matters and can have an important impact on the decisions our politicians make.
Friends of the Earth have also drafted an email that responds to key questions in the consultation, so if you’re short on time follow the link here.
