Sustainable Arran

Sustainable Arran Idea Generator, Ormidale Pavilion, 11th November 5pm

What if we were isolated from the mainland? How could we cope with an extreme weather event? Or an influx of extra terrestrial tourists?
… with 10 million pounds to spend…. you have a role to play, what would you do? Join us for a fun evening of creative and collaborative game play.

Help tackle the challenges illustrated by these fictional disaster scenarios.

At the Ormidale Pavilion from 5pm on Monday the 11th of November, entrance is free and light refreshments (cake!) provided.

Stay Warm Stay Well – Get Ready for Winter

Stay Warm, Stay Well: Get Ready for Winter – Corrie Hall, Tuesday 12th November 11.30am – 1.45pm 

Our Stay Warm, Stay Well event will be led by guest speaker Barbara Atterson from Energy Action Scotland. Energy Action Scotland (EAS) campaigns for an end to fuel poverty in Scotland and is the only national charity with this sole remit. This free event will begin with a presentation from Barbara followed by a lunch break with soup from Sannox B&B, Ferghan Mhor. There will be a winter wear jumble sale from the Arran Eco Savvy shop, and it will conclude with an interactive energy game. Find out how you can help to turn a cold, damp house into a comfortable and warm home, get advice on how to handle high bills and your energy supplier, and be signposted to relevant financial grants/assistance.

Secondary Glazing Information Event

Secondary Glazing – Home Farm, Brodick, Friday 15th November 12.30 – 1.30pm

Our Secondary Glazing event will be led by guest speaker Dr Tanya Ewing from Glaze and Save. Glaze & Save is an award winning bespoke magnetic secondary glazing and draught proofing company. Tanya, with her inventions and companies, has won several awards including British Female Inventor of the Year & Vibes Environmental Award. She will be available after the event for home visits to get you on your way to reducing your condensation, heating bills and noise from outside without the expensive price tag of double glazing. There will also be an opportunity to speak to a representative from Home Energy Scotland about the interest free loan available of up to £4k for secondary glazing improvements.

Savvy Traveller Drop-Ins

Eco Savvy are launching a new drop in service for info on all things eco travel!
Feel free to drop in to the Eco Savvy offices at Home Farm the last Tuesday of the month between 10am and 3pm where you can try out an ebike, speak to the team about what ebike/etrike might be best for you, and advice on where to buy. Eco Savvy do not sell ebikes so advice is completely impartial.

The Travel Coordinators can also give advice on financial assistance, safety tips and accessories for ebikes, safe cycle routes, electric vehicles, driving efficiently, as well as a host of other sustainable travel and transport topics so please do get in touch or pop along if you can make it to the monthly drop in!

Eco Savvy AGM

Eco Savvy will be holding their AGM on Sunday 17th November, at 2pm, in the Ormidale Pavillion. Items on the agenda include: the Annual report, Consideration of accounts, Election of office bearers, Members vote on the proposed constitution, and Project development engagement. All welcome!
